In order to be eligable to receive a student scholarship, the student must submit a scholarship request for Financial Aid with his or her student application when enrolling with The Urban Ministry Institute of Los Angeles.
Any student who requests a student scholarship must show evidence of his or her financial need in order to be considered.
The number of student scholarships awarded to applicable students each quarter is limited; therefore, scholarship amounts are distributed on a first come first serve basis.
The types of scholarships awarded to students are as follows:
Scholarship #1: Covers the full cost of the student's class fee ($50) and textbooks.
Scholarship #2: Partially covers (50%) the cost of student's class fee and textbooks; the remaining 50% of the cost will be covered by the student.
Scholarship #3: Covers only the full cost of the student's class fee ($50); the student is responsible to pay for the cost of his or her textbooks.
Each scholarship application submitted by a student must be approved by The Urban Ministry Institute of Los Angeles. Each application will be reviewed by a committee and then approved or disapproved depending upon available funds and the need of the student.
The scholarship application must be submitted by the student prior to the start of the quarter in which the student wishes to enroll for classes in a given Academic Calendar year.
All students with scholarships must re-apply at the beginning of each TUMI-LA Academic Calendar year by submitting a new application for evaluation and approval. If a student fails to renew his or her scholarship, the money will be awarded to the next available applicant, and thus the student will forfeit all rights to any scholarship funds available for the first quarter. In which case, the student may request funds (if available) prior to the beginning of the second quarter for that year.
