Bob earned his Doctorate of Education
degree from the Presbyterian School and Union Theological Seminary of Richmond,
Virginia, Masters degrees from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary (Old
Testament Studies) and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (M.Ed.),
and a B.A. in the Social Sciences, also from UNCC. Bob served as Christian
educator for St. Giles Presbyterian Church from 1980-86, was Assistant
Professor of Religion at Northwestern College of Iowa from 1990 to 95, and
Professor of Biblical Studies and Christian Ministry at Taylor University from
1995 through 2010. Bob has published Readings
in Historical Theology: Primary Sources of the Christian Faith (Kregel Press,
2009), Lessons of Infinite Advantage:
William Taylor's California Experiences (Scrarecrow Press, 2010), and a
number of scholarly articles, some of which appear in the recently published Encyclopedia of Religion in America (CQ
Press, 2011). In 2010 Bob submitted his resignation to Taylor University and,
together with his wife Chris, joined the staff of World Impact in order
to serve the inner city of Los Angeles. Bob is currently the Dean of TUMI-LA, as well as a class facilitator and mentor.
Dave graduated from
Dordt College, in Sioux Center, IA,
with a BA in Theology and minors in both teaching Bible and
missions/ evangelism. It was during his
college years where he sensed God's calling to love those who were hurting and
felt compelled to serve in the inner-city. He was married to his wife, Laura,
in December of 2001, and in August of 2003, they
moved to Los Angeles and began working with World Impact. Since then, Dave has been involved with two church plants, Transformations Church of Hollywood and Christ the Victor, and is currently the Site Director with The Urban Ministry Institute of Los Angeles.
Byron is a graduate of Biola University with a
B.S. in Marketing and is studying for his MDiv at Talbot. Other
education includes the Torchbearer Bible schools in Germany and
Austria. He also studied at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan. Prior
to joining World Impact with his wife Robyn, Byron was a researcher for Evangelical Christian
Credit Union where he spent 6 years researching evangelical churches and
ministries. Byron grew up in Papua New Guinea where his parents served
with Wycliffe Bible Translators and currently serves as Registrar and Academic Advisor with TUMI-LA.
Fernando graduated
from the Central America Theological Seminary (Seminario Teologico
Centro
Americano in Spanish) in Guatemala
with a BA and a MA in Theology and also has a Ph.D from Dallas
Theological Seminary. He served as a Christian Education pastor in
Guatemala
for several years and as a seminary professor as well, until God called
him to
minister in the United
States among the Hispanic population. Fernando
joined World Impact in 2000 and started his missionary career as a
church
planter in the city of Los Angeles.
Fernando faithfully served as the Site Director for TUMI-LA for 6 years
and currently serves as the Dean of TUMI Hispanic Ministries with TUMI
National and as a mentor among his Latino
brothers and sisters with TUMI-LA. Fernando is married to his wife, Telma.
