Each student will have the various components of his/her course requirements weighed (graded) by the instructor of that class. Each assignment will be given a point value, as well as a corresponding percentage to make up each grade. (An example of class components might include attendance and class participation, quizzes, memory verses, ministry project, final exam, and reading assignments). The final grade for a course is then determined by adding up the course points and comparing it to The Urban Ministry Institute’s grading scale. Below is one sample of a typical course’s point system:

PLEASE NOTE: The student is required to register the number of credits they desire to take on or before the first day of class. The student’s grade (for their work) will be calculated based on what they registered for at the beginning of class.

Course Description Codes
Course description codes begin with a letter which shows the area the course is offered in:
B=Biblical Studies, T=Theology and Ethics, C=Christian Ministry, U=Urban Mission.
Following the letter is a number that shows the number of credit units earned for the course. This number is followed by a dash and a three-digit number that is the specific number for that course.
Example: A course in “Bible Interpretation” would be numbered as follows:
Course NumberCourse Title B2-101 Introduction to Bible Interpretation
The "B" shows that it is a Biblical Studies Course, the "2" shows that it earns two credit units, and the "101" is the specific course number.
After a student has completed his/her coursework for a module and has received a grade for the class from the instructor, a transcript will be given to the student. The transcript reports the grades for the most current course taken along with a history of past courses and grades. This document proves you have done the necessary work to finish each module and have received credit for the completion of each course.
